Over 15 years of experience in health care system transformation through the application of innovative and disruptive models of care delivery designed to improve health care quality, outcomes and reduce costs.
Dr. Mason has committed his career to improving the clinical outcomes of the communities and patients that he serves through direct patient care, medical leadership and health informatics. Dr. Mason’s clinical specialty is general internal medicine with an emphasis on primary care, preventative medicine and Men’s Health. Dr. Mason also has additional experience and training in the principles of public health, population medicine and clinical informatics.
Dr. Mason worked at the Cook County Health and Hospitals System (CCHHS), the third largest public hospital system in the country where he led the charge to implement innovative health information technology across the system. His work at CCHHS allowed specialists and primary care providers to streamline and optimize their electronic health record use, improving clinical workflow, patient engagement and system efficiency. In addition to his direct patient care, clinical and medical informatics leadership roles, Dr. Mason followed his passion of caring for undeserved communities by serving as the Co-Medical Director of Project Brotherhood, a weekly community-based public health intervention designed to improve the health of men in Chicago by addressing the social determinants of health in a holistic, comprehensive, multi-disciplinary manner. The Project Brotherhood initiative has been recognized as a best practice initiative at the local, state and national level.
Dr. Mason earned his Medical Doctorate from the University of Illinois College of Medicine and completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Rush University Medical Center and Cook County Hospital in Chicago, IL
